Croda releases new data on bond multiplying hair care system

In an announcement to the press, issued late last week, Croda Personal Care shared new data on the Croda Plex formulation system and details about the significant ingredients in the formulas.

“Our newest data for Croda Plex shows that not only does Croda’s three-step formulation system build bonds and increase hair integrity, it boosts colour washfastness and increases hair strength,” ​Denise Costrini, marketing manager at Croda North America, says.

“With this new data, our customers can deliver a unique Plex solution that will attract salons and consumers in search of high performance bleaching and colouring services,”​ she adds.

Beyond bond multipliers ​

The Croda Plex hair repair system comprises three steps. And the company says that this new data shows the system “outperforms the commercial Plex benchmark.”​

In addition, the system reportedly performs well in terms of hair color retention or color washfastness. Croda found that over a cycle of 15 washes the first two steps of the Croda Plex system performed better than the industry standard.

And above the performance of a control sample, the third step improved hair strength by 85%, according to the Croda press announcement.

A few key ingredients ​

Croda highlights three of the company’s own hair care ingredients that make the formulations effective: Crodasone Cystine, Keravis PE, and Crodazosoft DBQ.

Crodasone Cystine acts as a conditioner covalently bonding to hair, while Keravis strengthens hair from the inside and protects the surface. Crodazosoft DBQ softens hair (including older people’s hair), and helps protect hair from cuticle abrasion and loss of artificial color.

The company shares a statistic from market researcher Kline indicating that the market for bond multipliers going forward will be strong: “This unprecedented appeal [of bond multipliers] has resulted in tremendous growth for bond multipliers, which experienced a 525% sales increase between 2014 and 2015,”​notes Croda.
