The launch taps into what was one of the dominant trends at the event, as pollution levels and environmental hazards grow in tandem with rising consumer awareness of what these factors can do to skin and hair.
The company also highlighted new ingredients solutions that target hyperpigmentation, conditioning for colored or bleached hair, an anti-aging solution and a preservative range that is being marketed as an alternative to parabens.
Tapping into pollution issues
With a growing urban population and industrialisation consumers are increasingly looking for cosmetic and personal care solutions that can help tackle the environmental stresses of city life.
The development team at Chemyunion has chosen to focus on a solution that counteracts pollutant permeation of the skin.
The resulting solution is SkinBlitz and is being marketed as a film-forming barrier to the skin that has been clinically tested to reduce permeation of skin polluting agents by 65%, compared to a standard film-forming agent.
The trials also discovered that the ingredient protects the DNA of cells exposed to pollution, in turn tackling premature aging, while also inhibiting hyperpigmentation, reducing biomarkers of environmental stress by 55% and targeting inflammation.
The company was also highlighting its Revinage anti-aging solution at in-cosmetics Global, an active that is composed from a botanical supercritical extract that allows is solvent-free and meets heightened requirements for sustainable and environmentally-friendly solutions.
Tests on the ingredient have shown it to increase collagen synthesis by 24% and Elastin by 26%, while increasing levels of cell turnover factors EGF and TGF-Beta by 108% and 41%, respectively and also having a measured impact on inflammation and increasing antioxidant enzymes.
What is also interesting about this solution is that as a vegetal-based alternative to retinols it is safe to use when exposed to sunlight, thanks to high level of stabilization to oxidants and UV radiation.
