MakeUp in Sao Paulo provides window into huge Brazil color cosmetics market
The MakeUp in Sao Paulo event is due to open its doors from December 8 to 9, providing a glimpse at one of the most vibrant but still developing color cosmetics markets in the world.

The event is being held at the city’s Reboucas Convention Centre at a moment when there are both significant market challenges, together with market opportunities that span beyond Brazil and into the Latin American region.

Although the economic recession that has hit Brazil this year has impacted consumption patterns in the country significantly, industry watchers believe that many of those changes could positively impact the color cosmetics market.

Roundtable focuses on opportunities

Drilling down on those opportunities, event organizer  Beauteam has organized a roundtable titled “Expectations and opportunities for Make-up Brands".

According to market research company Mintel, the longer-term future for the cosmetics and personal care market in Brazil looks bright - though this estimate probably factors that the country’s government can manage the current economic problems sufficiently.

Mintel figures forecast that the cosmetics and personal care market in Brazil will continue to grow at an AGR of approximately 10.2% during the course of the next five years, through to 2019 to reach a value of RS107.30bn.

In contrast to other consumer goods categories, it is also noteworthy that this predicted growth is amongst the highest in the sector.

Pinpointing the growth areas

The event’s round table will be moderated by Vincent Gallon from Brazil Beauty News, and will also include these panellists: Nazish Munchenbach, Sales & Marketing Director, Granado; Mirele Martinez, Brand Manager, Make B, Grupo Boticario; Murilo Reggiani, Managing Partner, VULT Cosmetica; Maria Paula Fonseca, Global Unit Director make up and skin care, Natura.

This panel will look at issues such as the most cutting edge innovations in packaging and formulation, the determining factors for doing business in Brazil and the importance of finding local ingredients suppliers.

Likewise, the panel will also take a good look at the sort of color cosmetic products Brazilian consumers are looking for and how those habits are likely to change and evolve in the future.
