ICMAD and ACI to host Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance Forum on Cosmetics and Personal Care Products
The forth annual Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance Forum on Cosmetics and Personal Care Products will take place March 6 through 8 at New York City’s Millennium Broadway Hotel.
Workshops
The forum is bookended by two interactive workshops. Monday the 6th, a three-hour afternoon workshop will cover the ins and outs of laws and regulations that pertain to cosmetics and personal care products. Craig Weiss, president of the contract lab Consumer Product Testing and Sharon Blinkoff, counsel with Locke Lord Edwards, will facilitate this opening workshop. (Blinkoff is also the secretary and general counsel of ICMAD.)
Wednesday afternoon Sarah Esmaili, counsel with Arnold & Porter LLP, Maureen Gorsen, partner with Alston & Bird LLP, and Jeffrey Margulies, partner in charge with Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP, will lead a Litigation Working Group. With the knowledge that “Prop 65 and the Safer Consumer Products Program regulations focused on protecting consumers from toxic substances, have created a whole new category of litigation,” this workshop will look carefully at the challenges that exist for beauty companies today.
Speakers
The agenda for the full day conference on Tuesday and on Wednesday morning is packed with speakers presenting on timely legal and business topics.
Experts will address pending litigation, what the FDA is prioritizing, product claim substantiation, regulatory matters particular to small and mid-size companies, natural and organic terminology, reputation management, and much more.
Partners
ICMAD is, of course, a professional association that represents hundreds of cosmetic manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers. The group advocates for science-based legislation of the industry, offers programs and services to benefit cosmetic and personal care entrepreneurs, provides networking opportunities, and host events like this one, among other things.
Alternatively, the American Conference Institute produces events in an array of industry sectors. The organization functions as a think tank and a business intelligence provider.
Commenting about the two groups’ collaboration on this year’s Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance Forum on Cosmetics and Personal Care Products, Megan Furino, legal conference producer with ACI tells the press, “ACI is proud to create a focused environment where legal, regulatory, and compliance professionals can converse with the FDA, FTC, and NAD on the matters affecting cosmetics and personal care products.”
Furino adds, “we are also pleased to bring attendees the opportunity to network with and learn from representatives from prominent companies such as The Clorox Company, Consumer Product Testing Company, eos Products, Fresh, Guthy-Renker, Kendo Holdings, Intertek, L’Oreal USA, Mary Kay, New Avon, Sephora, Sundial Brands, tarte cosmetics, and Unilever, who will present at this one-of-a-kind conference.”
